George Nottoli and his son, Tony, immigrated to the United States from Lucca, Italy in the late 1920's. Like many fellow immigrants, they were in pursuit of the American dream. Their dream led to three generations of sausage and deli sensations. After years of work at the Randolph Street Market, George and Tony opened up their first shop at 3805 W. Chicago Avenue in 1950. By then George had already developed the italian sausage that his countrymen hailed as the best they had tasted in the United States. His biggest "secret" was his dedication to high quality. Before long , Nottoli's had a long list of wholesale and retail customers in the Chicago area.
Tony's wife, Loretta Pacini Nottoli, ran the deli and small grocery store in front while George and Tony made italian sausages and other products for wholesale and retail customers in the back. In 1971, Tony and Loretta moved the store to its current location at 7652 W. Belmont Avenue. Here, they widened their consumer base, becoming a stronghold within Chicagoland's new Little Italy. George Nottoli II took over the business in 1989.
Since then, Nottoli's has added their highly acclaimed submarine sandwiches, their famous homemade potato and pasta salads, party trays, hot pepper salad, eggplant salad, pasta makers and dishes and specialty coffees and coffee makers to their product line. Nottoli's giardiniera remains an all-time favorite amongst Nottoli customers from all over the United States.
